I received an email from a friend in Jeremie, Haiti, with a plea for money for food. Prices of food have doubled in Haiti this year already. People are starving. I checked on shipping a container and was quoted almost $20,000.00 to ship one. I am doing a canned food drive in the area. I am having a trailer set up at the Maria stein Shrine from May 13th until May 17th for donations of canned meat and fish and peanut butter. These are some of the things that are high in protein. I will then ship the container to the Haitian Health foundation in Connecticut. They will ship it to the needy in Haiti. If you can help out just give me a call. I pray for a lot of cans-Ben On August 12th I received word that the 43,000# of food we sent arrived in Haiti. ******************************************************************** The fundraiser is being called “Walk a Mile in My Shoes One Block at a Time”. This is a fundraising effort by the Piqua Catholic School. The Social Justice Committee has set a goal to raise $7,000 to build a house in Haiti. Students will be asked to find a sponsor for each of the 4 quarters of school. Each student will walk one mile a week at school. Business partners are encouraged to donate also. The fundraiser will start on August 31, 2007 at a mass at St Boniface Church, 310 S Downing Street, Piqua, Ohio at 9:15 A.M ************************* **************************** I need ideas for some fun fund raisers.
